'Redstone' is the rumored code name for the next major Windows update in 2022 [Update]
A new study claims Microsoft is using the code name "Redstone" for the next major update to Windows. Information technology says that it will be released sometime in 2022 simply details about what will be included accept still to be revealed.
The story comes from Neowin, citing unnamed sources. It adds that the Redstone name is also used in the pop game Minecraft, which is now owned by Microsoft. In case you are not familiar with the sandbox-themed game, Redstone is a circuit that can exist made in Minecraft to activate or control mechanisms.
Microsoft used the lawmaking name "Blue" internally while it developed Windows 8.i and Windows 10 famously used the code name Threshold while it was being fabricated before Microsoft revealed its official label in the fall of 2022. If the next big update for Windows does indeed come out in 2022, or about a year after the launch of Windows 10, it's likely that it will exist a jump in features similar what Windows 8.1 was similar.
Update: ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley has posted some boosted information from her own unnamed sources near Microsoft's mail service-Windows 10 updates. She reports that the company will launch a small-scale Windows 10 characteristic update sometime in the fall of 2022 a few months after Windows 10'southward summer launch.
Equally far as the 2022 update, Foley says information technology won't change the numbering of Windows x. She adds:
"Redstone will just be a larger update than the others and volition provide new functionality and support for new classes of devices that aren't already part of Windows 10, so the supposed thinking goes"
"My sources say the Windows Insiders program will go along throughout the Threshold/Redstone evolution/delivery/deployment timeframe, significant Microsoft will continue to provide early test builds of not but the monthly updates, but the larger updates to Windows 10, also, into next year, and perchance beyond."
